Exercise Girl

I am Exercise Girl...

We all have our own weight loss journeys. We all have a story to tell.

I will tell you what happened to me the other day:

I was at an event, and a woman that I don't know came up to me and said

“don't I know you from the gym?”

Yes, I’ve seen you at the gym many times.

“Hold on a sec. I'll be right back.”

She came back with a friend in tow holding her hand up the aisle.

She and her friend’s stood in front of me she put out her hand and stated,

“This is Exercise Girl!”

I smiled amused, but confused. What? Exercise Girl?

Yes. the friend said we call you Exercise Girl.

She jokingly complains about you! Every time she goes to the gym you are already there working out. She tries, but has never been there before you, and she tries to stay longer than you. But she hasn’t yet.

So when I see her later in the day I usually ask. Well did you beat exercise girl?

She always says NO!

The woman from the gym then chimed in,

But one of these days I'm gonna kick your ***!

I jokingly flexed, my non-existent muscles, like a bodybuilder would.

And I proclaimed “not anytime soon you won't”

It was so fun; the three of us laughed and laughed.

It was a wonderful day for me.

I'm 61 years old and have lost over 50 pounds. It has taken me several years. You are never too old or too out of shape. You are worth the effort.

I made a commitment to myself. I am going to exercise hard. I do one whole hour of cardio everyday and weight training 5 days a week. And, instead of sticking to my diet for 80% of the time, I do it 100% Well honestly I’m at 99%.

I have to admit I had a slip up with a few m&m’s last week. But here is the good news about the candy. I didn’t enjoy it. What was once my ‘normal’ is not me anymore. I am no longer that girl.

Of course I’m not! How could I be? I am Exercise Girl!

Live every day on purpose,

Peggy Romero
